TILL I COME...
Mr and Mrs Bridget are proud parents of three children: John, Jerry and James. They all lived in a big house down the valley in the western part of the country.
One Saturday afternoon, Mr Bridget got a call from his insurance company agent, asking him to report at the family house for an urgent meeting with the family heads to discuss issues pertaining his father's kingdom and prospects of his family after his retirement. The journey was proposed to take them about a week.
After church service on Sunday, Mr Bridget called his three sons and informed them of the proposed journey with their mother first thing on Monday morning. Strange enough, he didn't tell them when he was going to come back, but he had made provisions for their feeding and also gave them some money for their upkeep. He also told them to meet the gateman, an elderly man, for comfort and other things they would need.
Two weeks passed by, but Mr and Mrs Bridget didn't come back home. The boys had began to get worried about their parents. Unfortunately, their foodstuffs was almost exhausted and James, the youngest of them, had begun to miss his mum. The journey of the couple was successful as they got to the family house several kilometers away. Mr Bridget was a prince (the son of a king) and his father was about to retire and handover the throne to him. Though unknown to him, That was why the insurance company contacted him having compiled all the details of his assets coupled with the details of his plans for his three sons.
Unknown to his sons, Mr Bridget had instructed his gateman to watch over his sons and monitor their behavior in his absence. He loved all his sons equally but couldn't give them equal Inheritance, he therefore wanted another yardstick with which to reward the boys individually.
Two months after Mr and Mrs Bridget embarked on the journey and weren't back, John, the eldest son, having waited long enough couldn't bear it again. He began to visit friends around and joined himself with a bad company of friends - which their father had warned them against. Jerry also joined him and they both strayed out of the instruction of their father. James on the other hand refused to join them. Several times when he was lonely, he would go to the gate man's house, listen to wise words from the man just to keep himself busy.
After about three months, Mr Bridget was ordained king, after his farther had retired and handed over the kingdom to him. He was asked to make one of his sons ruler over the subtowns under him. He therefore sent a message to his gateman at home, and asked about the state of his sons. Eventually, James was called upon and made ruler of all subtowns under his father, whereas, nothing was given to the other sons, John and Jerry, because they deviated from the doctrine of their father during his absence.
Dear reader, Like Mr Bridget, our Lord Jesus has gone back to the Father to prepare a place for us. He loves us so much that he gave us the Holy Ghost to comfort us and bring all things to our remembrance.
John 14:1-3
Let not your heart be troubled: ye believe in God, believe also in me.
In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you.
And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you unto myself; that where I am, there ye may be also.
While we await the second coming of our Lord Jesus Christ, we are to remain hopeful and faithful to Him who loved us and gave Himself for us. We are to give attention to His doctrines and commandments. How ready are you for His coming and how faithful are you to the instruction He gave us before He left,... Occupy till I come.? Lk 19:13.
If you have erred from the truth, please retrace your steps back to Jesus the Savior. May we be found worthy when Jesus finally comes for His church in Jesus name. Amen.
